No Squirrels!!!!!!

It's spring time! Zoe loves spring time. There's birds to play with and flowers to smell and neighbor dogs to bark at. But she doesn't like squirrels!
We have a large Oak tree hanging over our yard and the squirrels are always busy in it. One afternoon two of the resident squirrels decided to tease little Zoe.
As soon as she got out to potty, these little squirrels, which aren't much bigger than her, started running back and forth on the fence. They got her attention immediately. She started chasing them. Following them from one side of our yard to the other side, barking and jumping. She was not pleased. They were intruders!
She turned to me with her back to the squirrels and started barking at me to do something. And those little squirrels stopped and decided to have a little snack on the post of the fence in full view of Zoe. They twitched their long reddish brown tails back and forth to keep her attention. She was very perturbed. She lunged at the fence and hit it with her tiny paws and startled the squirrel on one side. It quickly took off. Then she went to the other side and did the same thing and that squirrel scurried away. She turned to me with a triumphant look that said, "No squirrels mom!"

Finding Zoe

Adopting a little Shih Tzu is very serious business. We did all the research so we would pick out the perfect puppy. We read books, searched on the internet and talked to other Shih Tzu owners. So we were well equipped when we visited our local breeder.
The breeder had two litters for us to pick from, about 15 puppies! But one black and white little girl picked out us. All the puppies where all around us jumping and playing, trying to capture our attention and very quietly, a little black and white pup snuggled against my leg and lay down. I picked her up and put her up on my shoulder and it was love!!! I handed her to my husband and said, "Just hold this one." He was reluctant because all the books told us to not pick the loners or the nervous puppies. He reached out his hand and put her on his shoulder, she sighed and cuddled into his neck. He said, "This is the one!!!"
We had several names written down, but when we looked into her sweet big eyes we realized none of those names were hers. She was "Zoe"!!!! Her eyes just said, "It's me, Zoe!"
That was 5 years ago. And we love her more everyday!
